This makeup tutorial is designed to teach you how to recreate this beautiful colourful smokey eye look at home using your own products in your kit.  This step-by-step learning experience will give you the confidence to wear this look for a special evening or even during the day. I designed this look for daytime wear, like a wedding, horse racing event or the polo etc however it can be worn as a night time look. This lesson is a step-by-step learning experience you will just love! I have added the products and links used to create this look for your ease of reference.

Lets get started!!!!

Step 1 – Base

  1. Apply your usual daily moisturizer and allow your skin to absorb before next step, we used Kiehls Ultra facial moisturizer lotion http://www.kiehls.com.au/skincare/by-category/moisturizers/ultra-facial-moisturizer?gclid=CLv74LzAjc4CFZclvQodLNwCrQ
  2. Apply a primer, in this case we have not used a primer as Kiehls ultra moisturizer is emolument
  3. Apply foundation starting at the neck and apply on all exposed skin including the ears and behind the ears with a brush using stippling movements to push the foundation into the skin, we used Nars Sheer Glow in Santa Fe http://mecca.com.au/nars/sheer-glow-foundation
  4. Layer foundation lightly where additional coverage is needed
  5. Wait for foundation to dry
  6. Pat lightly with a wet beauty blender to remove any brush lines, we use Kit beauty sphere as they are $5.00 cheaper than a beauty blender http://mecca.com.au/kit-cosmetics/blender-sphere/I-013671.html#q=beauty%2Bblender&start=1
  7. Apply Concealer under the eyes and on the eyelid using a synthetic brush in a triangle from the side of the nose up to the outer corner of the eye, and blend out the corners with a wet beauty blender, we used Stila contour duo http://mecca.com.au/stila/shape-and-shade-custom-contour-duo/V-020451.html#q=stila%2Bcontour&start=1
  8. Highlight using the same concealer the cupids bow, forehead and chin and blend with a beauty blender
  9. Apply cream contour to top of the cheeks, forehead, chin, jawline and nose and blend out edges with a beauty blender, we used the Stila contour duo as mentioned in item 7 above
  10. Set concealer under the eye with a extra wet beauty blender and translucent powder and pat into the skin
  11. Set foundation with translucent powder using a big fluffy brush, we used Laura Mercia Translucent setting powder http://shop.davidjones.com.au/djs/en/davidjones/loose-setting-powder—translucent
  12. Apply bronzer where the cream contour was applied, we used Benefit’s matte bronzer in Hoola https://www.benefitcosmetics.com/au/en-gb/product/hoola
  13. Apply blush on the apples of the cheeks only, we used Too Faced sweet hearts perfect blush in sparkling bellini http://mecca.com.au/too-faced/sweethearts-perfect-flush-blush/V-017664.html
  14. Apply highlighter (if desired) on tops of cheeks and nose, we used Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin perfector in Moonstone https://www.beccacosmetics.com/shop/cheeks/shimmering-skin-perfector-poured-creme-a7a8d1.html


Step 2 – Eyes

Brows –

  1. Comb through the brow hairs using a brow groomer or spooley
  2. Using a pencil, draw a thin line at the hairline and go along the arch, we used Anastasia Beverley Hills Brow Wiz in Taupe   http://www.sephora.com.au/products/anastasia-brow-wiz?gclid=CIrp1vzFjc4CFQSUvQod1kQBVg
  3. Draw a thin line at the top of the brow
  4. Brush the hairs up and out and lightly fill in the sparse areas with the pencil in short light movements
  5. Brush hair again with a spooley to blend



Eye Design

  1. Using a eye shadow brush, a apply a transitional colour in the outer quarter of the eye lid and outer crease and in small circular movements bring the colour along the crease, we used Anastasia Beverley Hills shadow in Morocco http://www.anastasiabeverlyhills.com/makeup/eyes/eyeshadow-singles.html 
  2. Using a clean eye shadow brush, blend a dark purple colour to the outer area of the eye in a side v”, blending to create a “C’ shape, use this shade to contour the eye area also. Also apply to the outer area of the lower lash line. Blend well, we used Anastasia Beverley Hills shadow in Heirloom http://www.anastasiabeverlyhills.com/makeup/eyes/eyeshadow-singles.html
  3. Apply a royal blue coloured eyeshadow to the lid and blend into the purple colour applied in the previous step, and blend a small amount under the eye in the first quarter of the eye, we used Anastasia Beverley Hills shadow in Azure http://www.anastasiabeverlyhills.com/makeup/eyes/eyeshadow-singles.html
  4. Using a white or off white shadow highlighter under the eye brow and blend into the transitional colour
  5. Using a black pencil, apply along the top lid and ensure the line is thickest at the outer corner, blend into the lash line and then run across the inner rim of the lower lid, we used Stila smudge stick waterproof eye liner in Stingray http://mecca.com.au/stila/smudge-stick-waterproof-eye-liner/V-007872.html?cgpath=brands-stila#start=1
  6. Apply two coats of mascara to the top and lower lashes in a zig zag motion
  7. Apply lashes if desired, we used Lilly lashes in Sapphire https://lillylashes.com/collections/the-luxury-collection


Step 3 – Lips

  1. Apply a lip liner to the lips and slightly fill in lips with the pencil, we used Makeup Forever waterproof lipliner in Rosewood http://www.sephora.com/aqua-lip-waterproof-lipliner-pencil-P183919 


Step 4 – Touch Ups/finishing

  • Check if you need to add more powder, bronzer or blush
  • Dust a light coverage for Translucent powder all over the face
  • Lightly mist all over face excluding the eye area with a setting spray or moisturizing spray, we used Slay all day setting spray by Gerard Cosmetics https://www.gerardcosmetics.com/slay-all-day-setting-spray-pair.html
  • Keep eyes closed until eye area feels dry
